Photocaged organocatalysts for the polymerization of biosourced monomers and the control of surface topography
The objective of this research project is to prepare and study the photochemical and photophysical properties of new photocaged organocatalysts - i.e. organic molecules whose catalytic activity can be triggered on demand in response to an illumination. – designed to be active in ring-opening polymerization reactions of biosourced cyclic esters and/or carbonates. The molecules developed in the context of this thesis will be used to graft various types of polymers onto the surface of materials, the topography of which can be finely controlled using light. The objects thus prepared could prove to be excellent candidates for antibacterial applications.
