The invention relates to the field of forensics and relates more particularly to a composition for revealing latent fingerprints, a method for revealing latent fingerprints on a substrate and a kit for revealing latent fingerprints. In particular, according to the invention, latent fingerprints can be revealed using fluorescent compounds of the family of 4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacenes and, as practiced according to the invention, this does not require the presence of heavy equipment. Compared with known solutions based on cyanoacrylate and/or fingerprint powder, the revealing system according to the invention has the advantage of proposing an alternative that is simple to implement, faster, and can be carried out both in a laboratory and at the scene of a crime, indoors as well as outdoors, while allowing compatibility with conventional DNA detection methods.
