Synthesis and Properties of Photosensitive Glycomacrocycles

This review paper summarizes all fluorescent and photochromic glycomacrocycles reported to date. The synthetic strategies, their photophysical, photochemical, chiroptical and circularly polarized luminescence properties, as well as their applications from fluorescent ion sensing, DNA intercalation, to multistimuli-responsive organogels formation or as photoresponsive chiral dopants for cholesteric liquid crystals will be presented.
